Digital touch points are constantly evolving. To stay on top of new platforms, devices and media, we have to experience them first-hand – how they work, how users interact with them, and how we can optimize our work to realize their full potential. So we’re not shy about experimenting with new tools, environments and platforms. We get involved and develop concepts and prototypes so we can speak, recommend and build with valuable first hand experience.

Real-time multiplayer trivia game brings measurement to digital signage

In NYC, you’re either speed walking, catching a train, stealing a cab, or cursing the fact that you’re perpetually 10 minutes late for everything. So why would you stop to look at a billboard? A game and a campaign where we could measure our target audience's interaction.

RFID Personal Metrics Project
August 2008

The RFID Personal Metrics Project is an exploration into personal metrics and radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. RFID is a nuanced and versatile short range communications technology. It is used widely in large-scale distribution and security infrastructures, but until recently had enjoyed relatively few consumer oriented applications. Recently, various transportation and financial services projects have brought the technology into the public eye. To be ready to answer questions and make recommendations for our clients we formulated a project that would give us first hand experience with RFID hardware and another EP group area of interest, data visualization.

Urban Mixtape - Collaborative Project With Socialight
March 2008
An urban navigation service that lets people easily share their favorite places

Users receive an SMS or email link to their Urban Mixtape -- easily viewed on any web-enabled phone -- and dynamically reordered around their current location. Users of Socialight's award-winning Mobile Java application can "follow" a Mixtape from start to finish using location-aware devices such as the Nokia N95. The application also includes a "remix" function that allows the user to modify the order of their Mixtape based on their current location.

Flickr "Image Views" Counter
August 2007
Measuring total image views on Flickr.com

Have you ever thought about the ripple effect of Flickr images on a brand? We were curious about three things--how many images were tagged with a brand, how many times they were viewed, and what we could learn about brand enthusiast communities. So, we created the Flickr Image Counter--a web-based tool developed to study the power of consumer-to-consumer (C2C) media. It can quickly count the total number of image views for a given tag by counting the number of times an image has been tagged and then tallying the total number of image views associated with each tag.
